Final bridge Positioning.

Hi,
In my recent post Rain Stopped Play, Mark commented on the two tuning machines on the peghead, so I thought I would answer it in a new post as they do not play a part in the neck-setting task covered there.

The two tuners are so that I can put the two ‘E’ strings on the guitar to aid in better positioning of the bridge leading to a better intonation.
Photos should tell the story. I make sure that the action is set as I want it, and the strings are up to pitch and the same gauge as I will be finally using.
I use a wider saddle so there is room for finessing during the final setup.

I also have a more elaborate version, but it does not fit a small Parlor guitar like this, I can show it if there is any interest.

Nice set up Taff.

To make the little positioning pins I drill a hole in a card scraper and then hammer a matchstick through the hole
