Pick-up jack insert tool
This idea was borrowed from another source, but well worth making to install jacks, particularly for small instruments and for those with big hands. This small tool was made of a short length of dowel, with the end shaped on a lathe to replicate a phone jack. The shaped dowel is inserted through the drilled hole in the guitar from the outside until it appears close to the sound hole. The jack can now be plugged on to the wooden plug to be withdrawn back through the hole.

Re: Pick-up jack insert tool
After struggling with the same issue in having to install up to 8 pickups in a very short time in our class's, Micheal and I knocked up a couple for our tool kits from brass rod. They make all the difference in making what was a really challenging job into one that's a piece of cake.
Ours is just sized to fit through the end jack hole. Push it though to the sound hole and plug the jack onto the rod. Pull it back out and then slip on the washer and nut. Even turned up a small stainless pin to fit into the cross hole that is on the jack end so it could be held while we tightened up the nut.

Re: Pick-up jack insert tool
I just feed a guitar lead into the hole. Very lo-fi.
