South Australian bush fires
South Australian bush fires
Hope any members in the areas under threat from the fires
are all safe and survive unharmed, particularly Martin's stash.

Stay safe Martin and I hope those flames aren't too close to home. I do think we should have a whip round though and get 'the stash' airlifted to safer storage, any Aussie members willing to stash the stash at their's?

Nice to hear in church but not in a Mexican prison.

40kms between me and the fires but Wednesday's weather forecast is not good with swing to northerly winds due along with high temps. The fire tanks are full and the fire pump got a test rung this morning. If it comes to the crunch I douse the house in fire retardant and then evacuate to the nearby refuge area.

I trust "the nearby refuge area" is the Stirling Hotel?

The refuge zone is the whole main shopping drag which happens to include the Stirling HotelBob Connor wrote:I trust "the nearby refuge area" is the Stirling Hotel?

Definitely would not have room for the whole stash but could manage to store about "5 or 6 cubes" , i guess every little bit helps.Nick wrote:Stay safe Martin and I hope those flames aren't too close to home. Stay safe.
We had a fire here 200m from our house but it was only a 23 truck job and certainly nothing to complain about after seeing the SA situation on TV.
Don't take any risks.

Big fire is 95% contained but thunderstorms on us now with risk of new fires being started by lightening. The firies and police have done a first class job on containing this huge fire....my hats go off to them.

How many hats have you got?kiwigeo wrote:my hats go off to them.
No you are bang on Martin, I'm always in awe of the Aussie firefighter (and I don't even live in Australia) with what they have to contend with. Felt sorry for the one that went to fight the fires, protect peoples homes and properties and all that, then while he's away doing that another fire took his own house I'd shout them all a cold one if I had the cash.

Nick there were a couple of CFS guys who's houses burned while they were busy saving other's properties. One of them knew his house was burning but didn't use that as a reason to leave the property he was busy trying to save. These guys (and girls) are made of special stuff.
42 degrees with gusty north westers yesterday...this morning the heavens opened up and record rainfall and flooding is forecast for the weekend.
I flew to Perth today....Adelaide Airport was full of NSW firies heading home after fighting the Adelaide Hills fire.....alot of them looked absolutely buggered.
