since watching these we have been playing with this in the workshop. I saw it at the end of the friction welding clip and had the tube and magnets at hand to try it out . :o

Same principle used to provide resistance on the stationary trainer I have my bike mounted in on days when its too wet to hit the road. The bike powers a spinning disc that spins past magnets that exert magnetic force on the disc and try and slow it down.
