Hey Christian...
You didn't watch Road Cops at all? Truck on it with a huge Swamp Kauri log on it's back, a good 8-9 foot diameter trunk, shame the truck was pulled over for being overweight & they had to cut the damn thing in half to get it off so the truck could travel on (although they'd still get a shit load of B&S out of it!) The cut just seemed a bit random is all.

Re: Hey Christian...
Hi Nick,
I saw the advert and thought what the F was on that truck !!!
not surprised the truck was struggling those logs weigh massive amounts.
it would have taken some cutting in half too, they could have left one with me I would have looked after it.
A friend of a friend has the job of digging and dragging them out of the ground up here, apparently there is one they have nicknamed "aircraft carrier" as it is absolutely colossal.
I may have to watch it on on demand for a chuckle.
Cheers,
Christian.

Re: Hey Christian...
Looked to have cut it with about a 5 foot bar on the chainsaw, I can't remember exactly but I think there was 8 tonne on one rear axle alone! It was one of those low loader trailer (the type they use to haul earthmoving equipment around) and the log/stump stretched the length of the trailer.

Speaking of Laurie Williams .....
Kathryn Ryan interviewed him on Radio NZ last Monday just after 10am. Very interesting. Well worth listening to.

Re: Hey Christian...
Yeah a workmate who listens to Radio NZ came down & informed me "Some dude who makes musical instruments or something is on the morning program on radio NZ". I never listen to that station so wouldn't know where to find it on the diallauburu wrote:Speaking of Laurie Williams .....

Seen this chick a few times at One2One's open mic in Auckland:

She's a student of Nigel Gavin's (who is playing the Williams in that Song of the Kauri video above), not as good as she used to be in my opinion if you look up her older videos. I've heard negative feedback from one NZ guitar tech saying that the finish is not good on his guitars, but I've not had a chance to play one myself. This one sounds pretty good though:

Re: Hey Christian...
And for anybody that wonders what or where swamp Kauri is sourced, here's quite a nice little video showing excavation of a 'log'.

Ha, now I know where Borat got his inspiration!
Re: Hey Christian...
The log will get transformed into a beautiful piece of furniture.....and then Woodrat will get his hands on it and it'll get turned into guitars
