Kaikoura aint the quiet little seaside town it used to be

Post by kiwigeo » Wed May 30, 2012 8:01 am

Up to 20 women were involved in a brawl in Kaikoura early on Sunday morning.

Police were called out just after midnight to a group of women from the Kaikoura area fighting in the Adelphi pool bar.

Constable Andy Grant, of Kaikoura, said as many as 20 women were involved in the brawl.

Police told the women to go home and closed the bar.

But a while after the incident on Sunday morning, it appeared that some of the women had gone back to town, where one of them was assaulted again by another woman, Mr Grant said.

Charges were likely to be laid against some of the women, he said.

Only twenty? That's a quiet night for them gals up there! Usually forty or more could have a scrap in the Blue, but the owner doesn't bother calling the cops until one of them picks up a bottle of his expensive spirits to smack another over the swede with!
Always remember a guy I went to polytech with, he was slightly puzzled when his best man suggested he had his stag do at the Blue instead of staying in Christchurch. He went along with it because the best man was from Kaikoura and claimed to have done a good deal with the owner (Terry Brown's brother owned it at the time). Poor fella, they got him pissed until he was comatosed then bundled him onto a fishing boat that was heading out for the week. He came too several miles offshore & had to help out on the boat for the next week as there was no way the skipper was returning to shore just for him! Fortunately they got ashore a few hours before he was due down the aisle so he made it but wasn't overly chuffed with his bestman!

Nice to hear in church but not in a Mexican prison.

   Nice one Nick. :D

Sort of reminds me of a bloke who was working on a tropical island in QLD. He got engaged to another staff member and celebrated his bucks on the island with his mates also on staff. Most of those islands have no dock or jetty so received their dry stores via barge from the mainland. The goods are loaded into locked 50mm weld mesh ULD's (un-loading device) to prevent pilfering. These things have the same footprint as a standard pallet which allows them to be handled and stacked by folk lift and they're about the same again high providing about 1 and a bit m3 of cargo.

When the barge reaches the island it drops its bow ramp onto the beach and the uld's are unloaded by a frontend loader fitted with folks...Now I have no idea to this day how it came to be but on the morning after his bucks, that poor fella somehow managed to find himself waking up at around 10:00am 'sweating' under the hot tropical QLD sun and locked inside one of those uld things.

Not only that but some heartless bugger had placed that uld on that islands most popular beach. The groom to be woke desperate for a drink of water, locked in a cage in the sun, right in front of the main resort where crowds of people had gathered to enjoy the biggest draw card of their holiday...and......he had no cloths on.

Makes one wonder what kind of persons could devise such a cruel stunt and be heartless enough to then carry it out.....Must say had I not been in the process of validating my loader ticket at that very time I would have left that island in complete disgust.

Cheers

Kim
