I seen this vid a few years back and it had me thinking when I was doing up the heelless neck matey and changing the neck pocket that I should install 2 x 1/2" rare earth magnets in the very end of the neck and the same in the carbon reinforced UTB. With a further 3/4" RE magnet at the front of the pocket I recon it would have worked well. The UTB already has a rebate to position and support the back of the neck to carry most all of the load. To fail the upward string pull would need to exceed the direct downward pull of the 3/4" RE and I don't think that would happen.
To remove the neck, you would simply pull it forward with enough force to counter the pull of the 1/2" RE's in the UTB. The 3/4"RE would be taken out of the equation as you would be drawing 'across' its pull, and because the bindings at the front of the neck pocket are held in place by REs and already open like barn doors to allow the neck to be extracted, there would be nothing to do but back off the strings a tad to disjoint the back part of a two piece bridge as you see here...Therefore I don't think a blot or other type of locking mechanism would be required. One day I may just do the conversion but right now its fun to play as is so its not a priority.
Cheers
