Why I'm never be onboard a jackup rig during a tow

Post by kiwigeo » Tue Dec 20, 2011 8:33 am

These things are towed with their legs jacked up and protruding up to 200' above the main deck of the rig. If the thing lists more than around 4 degrees then over you go. A jack up rig nearly went over during a tow from Bass Strait to Portland into a front coming from the west a few years back.....it never hit the papers for obvious reasons.
