Update on the myCharity: Water project

Post by Dennis Leahy » Thu Oct 13, 2011 3:46 pm

(I cannot find the original thread to tie this to. I thought the original thread was titled something like "Music + H2O = MusicH2O")

Update from the fine folks at My Charity:Water
on
our project called MusicH2O:

Here's a link: http://www.charitywater.org/mailings/20 ... m_content=

========{ email message from myCharity: Water}====================
Hi MusicH2O,
By now you’ve heard from us about Dollars to Projects, and that you'll see proof of the water projects you funded through your mycharity: water campaign in 2010. We want to give you an update on how your hard-earned funds are being used toward clean drinking water.

Dollars to Projects

Where your money has been sent: Tigray, Ethiopia
Image
About a year ago, your funds were pooled with those of other mycharity: water campaigns to help thousands of people in the Tigray region of northern Ethiopia. Our local partner, Relief Society of Tigray (REST), is currently constructing the water projects. Then they'll provide hygiene education to communities and create Water Committees to oversee the completed water projects.

These water projects will be fully completed next year. Then, REST field staff will go back to collect GPS coordinates, photos and other details of each community using their new water source. They’ll send all of this information along to us so we can report back on exactly how each dollar you raised helped people in need.

See an example of the report you’ll receive when your projects are ready here » http://mycharitywater.org/p/myprojects?member_id=4806

Learn more about REST in a blog post from charity: water Founder Scott Harrison here » http://www.charitywater.org/blog/ethiop ... m_content=

Talk to you soon!
Thanks so much for your patience and support. You’ll hear from us again soon on the status of your projects. If you have any questions at all, please email Merry McCarron at help@charitywater.org.

I will post more info when I get it. Cool to know where the money went. For probably the first time in my life, I can say we threw money down into a hole in the ground - and it is a great thing!

:~)

I encourage you to cough up folks...this is a worthy charity. Unlike alot of charities ALL the money goes into the project rather than paying telemarketers or paying for the CEO's BMW.

Even if you don't have the loot to spare for a donation take the time to check out the website and see what this charity is all about.
