Snow in Christchurch

Post by kiwigeo » Mon Jul 25, 2011 8:40 am

Nick...are you ok?

Just got some photos from my sister over in Opawa..looks like about 6" of snow on the ground there. The city must look a little less devastated with the covering of snow.

Yeah another "Nature" Day off work! grrrrr. About 6 inches out this way too, had to drop my partner out to Rolleston this morning (she's caring for a woman who's just come out of hospital a little worse than when she went in) as the buses aren't running & she doesn't drive. That was mucho fun! If you got out of the tyre ruts even in the slightest, the lime green commy was all over the place! 30K's/hr was a safe and maximum speed for anybody, thank gawd for traction control otherwise I might still be stuck out on main south road somewhere!

Nice to hear in church but not in a Mexican prison.

I was down in Dunedin all weekend (for the All Blacks game & visiting my partner's family) & only just got out of there in time yesterday lunchtime, I think Killmog was shut down later & is definitely closed today!

If you didn't have to be out in it it was great Lillian, it really looked beautiful, everything covered in white. Felt sorry for the buggers that still haven't got working sewers after the shakes though, they had to traipse down to the nearest portaloo & park their bums on a freezing cold seat. Brrrrrrr

Man, that looks refreshing!! We are in about our 20th day in a row of heat index readings of over 110 F. I haven't been in my shop for 6 weeks. :(

Oh that will get your attention.

Um Ron, I'm sorry. I think you can blame the PNW. We are up to I think 20 days of sunshine since the first of the year. We have had 5 days that were above 70. We are getting the total opposite of everyone else's weather. We had the coldest and wettest April on record. The jury is still out on whether we skipped Spring all together or if it is just three months late.

I hope you have real AC and not a swamp cooler. Be safe.

Thanks Lillian. Swamp coolers don't work in Arkansas, too much humidity. I don't even think you can buy one in the state. My home is a very comfortable 74. If anyone cares to know, a log home is very easy to heat and cool. I wish I had a log shop.

No they don't.

I plead late and tired. I don't know why but I was thinking you were in western OK. And its right there in your profile that you aren't.

Note to self: 4 hours of sleep just isn't enough to type coherently.
