Timber and working with wood show

Hi All ,

I attended the Timber and working with wood show( and jumpers , floor sweepers, jewelery , pottery and a whole heap of other shit that has F#** all to do with wood) some good displays from the likes of Carbatec and tool suppliers , the timber merchants were thin on the ground , some seemed to bring along all their scraps at triple the normal price , with the Exeption of island specialty timbers , who didn't bring tonewoods specifically , but did have a good range of well presented and well priced timbers I grabed a few nice bit's for head plates , and some that were quartered and big enogh for B&S sets. some really good deals on some tools , grabbed a maktec trimmer for $105.00. and some good buys on sandpaper, If you after tools , well worth the Trip , if your after timber , forget it.
a Bit of a Disapointment compared to last year.

I got ripped off mightily by a "purveyor of fine timber" a name you'd recognise, when I bought a B&S set of EIR at their stand at the "Timber & Working With Wood" show in Sydney. Spent $160 for an, at best AA grade (and that's being generous) set for my first guitar. I walked away with a smile on my face 'cause I was gonna (and did) build my first guitar. But when I later bought three sets in a group buy that were all far better in quality for less (combined) than the first set, I started to wise-up & stopped going to that show. There was great stuff there, but they're waiting for you and see you coming. There's better suppliers around you just got to ask around to find 'em.

That'd be one of the reasons (I believe) that we have this forum. There ain't no such thing as a stupid question here folks. If you don't know something, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask. We were all newbies once, and lived to tell the tale. You newbie lurkers can feel free to jump in and ask for advice, most of us don't bite - other than the occasional enthusiastic nibble, but we've got a grin on our faces when we do it.

Actually, I haven't had a hair cut in way too long and I was thinking of getting it cut tomorrow, now that you mention it. I haven't decided where I'm getting it cut yet. I'll have to let you know.

Too busy setting up for my first go at spraying some nitro lacquer. Got me some Durobond Guitar Lacquer...

Hope it's better than that Hard shellac shit.

Good luck with your spraying Paul. Weather here at the moment is not conducive to spraying...or doing anything for that matter .
