Police in Darwin provided some impromptu tourism advice this morning when a backpacker called in asking for a camp site where he would be safe from crocodiles.
The backpacker who had been sleeping outdoors called police about 1:30am to say he was stuck in a downpour.
"A backpacker camping somewhere in Darwin rang to say he was being rained on and was enquiring where he could camp where there would be no crocs to worry about," Duty Superintendent Bob Rennie said.
He was not sure of the nationality of the backpacker.
"He didn't give us too many details at all," he said.
"He just wanted a safe place to camp out of the rain.
"He was advised go to a motel or a similar place of abode with a roof." <==== I'd have offered him a ice croc-free cell at the police station.

Was the accent more like Boston, or Chicago?
