How do you get a luthier off of your door step?
Pay him for the pizza!
Having won the lottery, the luthier was asked what he'd do with his millions.
He said, "I guess I'll just keep building guitars until the money runs out."
How many luthiers does it take to change a light bulb?
Only one, but he will spend 2 days building a jig for the job.
What do you call a luthier who breaks up with his girlfriend?
Homeless
How do you tell if a luthier is dead?
Wave a check for the down payment on the commission of an instrument before his face, but don't be fooled: a slight, residual spasmodic clutching action may occur even hours after death has occurred
My daughter hates to leave me alone because she knows I will just sit at home and fret.
A fish came in the other day and complained about his scale length and said there was also something wrong with his tailpiece.

What's the difference between a pepperoni pizza and a luthier?
The pizza can feed a family of four.

OK, then I will try to fill the void...woodrat wrote:Hey Tod, Stop with the Luthier jokes!....

Certainly one of the older jokes. In the third chapter in the book Things About the Guitar José Ramírez III is quoting his grandfather Ramírez I:
When a luthier does not die in the poor-law infirmary the reason is that he has not the money to get there.
But this should be no reason to get desperate. It seems that over time the general situation of luthiers has improved (no joke), and with a bit of luck this tendency will continue. In Historical Lute Construction Robert Lundberg mentions an old book about social ranking, (Das Ständebuch) from 1568 by the German Jost Amann. Lundberg said:
"The Ständebuch shows all of society arranged in in order of status; the first page shows God, and it goes down the line through clergy, royalty, goldsmiths, tapestry makers, and the like. Instrument makers are a page or two above musicians, who are the last people in the book. Rag pickers and beggars are ahead of instrument makers in status! Beggars are at least honest you see. The author of this book probably had a tidy place for himself in it, but I don't think this was an isolated view. In general, instrument users/musicians were an expendable group."

John , Please do not read any further.
A luthier asks his accountant "what sort of year have you had ?" the accountant replies that he's had a good year and has just bought a property where,"if I was to start driving at sunrise,I still wouldn't reach the boundary fence at sunset."
The Luthier replies "yeah I have a truck like that as well "
Sorry to all the proffessional Luthiers, but if you don't laugh, you will surely cry .
