It's just barely the start of spring here in Duluth, Minnesota, USA, and Michael's Plum tree does not yet have leaves. But, there are lots of buds and it will open up and flower probably in a few weeks. I was told it is possible it could provide a plum or two this year, and certainly by next year.

This is a Red Diamond Cherry Plum. Of the three different varieties of Plum I bought and planted, something about the name "Red Diamond" just seemed to fit with the photo you PMd to me of Michael.

Now Michael has another memorial tree planted in his honor on the other side of the planet. My daughter will paint Michael's name on a smooth beach stone from Lake Superior, and we'll have that near the base of the tree.

To Sebastiaan, your wife and kids, we send warm hugs from the Leahy household.

Hi Dennis,

My wife and I both wept when we saw your image, its a very moving gesture and greatly valued, thank you. We will include it when we rebuild the memorial. Big warm fuzzies from our household to yours as well!

Ron, have no fear mate, my words and actions often dont match up, here is another occaision!

BTW Allen, getting banned is a bit of a badge of honour here, I think Dennis should remain on the list.

Sebastiaan, I'm really glad that you and your wife were able to feel the love behind our humble gesture. May it send you a bit of comfort.

And yes, it would be a mistake to insulate me from being banned. I will certainly do something worthy of banishment, exile, or being fed to the crocs, before too long. :D

Well if it's any consolation & I was a moderator, I'd ban you right now for just for making my veil of machismo slip
