Gypsy jazz guitar

Post by 56nortondomy » Mon Jul 17, 2023 3:30 pm

I’ve just finished this Selmer guitar. It’s my fourth Selmer and I have another one that’s just waiting for the lacquer to cure and I’ve been asked to make two more so they’ve been started.
This one is going to Qld and will be in the oz manouche festival in November.
B/s are Ovankol
Top Is Sitka
Qld walnut f/b
Eirw bridge
Mahogany neck
Marri bindings

Hi Wayne,
That is a ripper guitar. I love the Marri binding. It looks a treat.
Cheers

Another great guitar build. The rosette for the sound hole shape looks like a lot of careful and thoughtfully work.

Thanks Martin and Wayne.
The rosette is a challenge, I've made routing templates for the channel so that's not too bad, getting the rosette to fit nicely takes a bit of finicky fiddling around.

Very smart. Presumably you have to do some pretty hefty bracing round that 'big mouth'...

Thanks Dave, Wayne. Here’s a photo of the top bracing. Not that top but it’s the same. Wayne

That is one honking big ass hole there. I loved listening to it and could listen to your guitar and those 2 pickers all day.

Yeah if you stare at that guitar for too long it feels like it wants to eat you! :o
