'OOO' finished at last.

Hi, here is my latest build finished last month. It was half completed in 2016, body and neck, but due to new customers wanting their own versions of it, I never got to sell it, just sell off of it.
Having played it for the last three weeks I think some of those customers would not have turned their noses up at this one. Although it may not be as pretty as some of the ones previous.
Indian Rosewood [the last of a stash from 40 years ago], Engelmann Spruce, NGR neck, Rosewood fingerboard, and Cooktown Ironwood Bridge. And a small pickguard or finger rest that has become known as the “wombat”.

As are all my guitars, this one is named after the historical gold mines of this area. Phoenix. You could say it has been born again.
Thanks for looking

Hi to all the forum members.

Just a little bit about my past. I worked in a Bendigo Music Shop in the early 70s for four years and also 15 years in a Townsville music shop. I don't proclaim to be an expert but I have played many acoustic guitars over that time, some big names and some unknown brands so I have an experience of sound to draw upon in my head. Enough about me.

I had the pleasure to play Phoenix on Saturday for a good hour. It is one of the best acoustic guitars I have ever played. A credit to years of guitar building by Taffy. It has everything, volume, sustain, dynamics, even note volumes and would suit all styles of music. The build quality is exceptional and the attention to detail is first class.

Thanks Taffy for bringing the guitar over and allow me to give it a test run.

Cheers to you all

Alan

Hi Al, it was great spending time with you, and thanks for the comments on this 000 build. I have photos of the Chlandni patterns and I'll share them with you next visit. I am just bracing up another 000 using New Guinee Rosewood and Cedar.
Thanks again.

Hi Taffy. That 000 does look sensational.
Details like the headstock shape and binding, and the inlay - very classy!
Also looks like a pretty professional finishing routine - are you spraying it yourself?
cheers
Mark

Hi Mark, thanks for your interest. Finishing is the least enjoyable part of a build for me. Although the end product looks nice, it's the journey I hate. I can never get it right without hours of correcting and redoing stages. This guitar, as with most of my builds uses Nitro, but I'm leaning towards less harmful finishes now. A bit late after over 40 years wouldn't you say?
Although I learned French polishing during my apprenticeship many moons ago, it's not like riding a bike I've found, I have to retrain to regain the technique.
