Another hollow electric

Completed this one recently, and combining all my favourite elements
adding a few build pics as well.

Start of the body with laminated sides



Back and neck are New Guinea Rosewood top is flamed Maple


Red Special parts kit


This is a carved top so some mods are necessary



The trem has to have a slight angle so the springs fit under the top




Switches are mounted on a plate under the top






Neck was made and shaped also made in New Guinea Rosewood and internal woods added



So basically we have very similar cavities to the RS

Access for everything is from the rear


And a bit of a mockup

Just a few notes
Woods used were Neck is New Guinea Rose wood also back of body and outer side laminations, and the trem / bridge block.
Cap is flamed Maple.
Most other specs are as per a Red Special.
24 jumbo SS frets and 24" scale
Wiring is all in series ,top switches on and off for each pickup and bottom switches are phase each.
Pickups are an early set of Adeson pickups. Now very rare to find.
With the wiring I have shielded the wires from the pickup to the switch plate visible on the centre copper strip on the switch plate. I have earthed the trem with a small tapped screw as can be seen.

Hi Mark, that's a very impressive piece of work, I like that a lot, real classy looking. I use a lot of new Guinee Rosewood on both electric and acoustic guitars. It makes a great-sounding acoustic guitar.

Our local timber outlet had a huge pile of NGR, 300mm x 50mm x 2mtr lengths, picked out all the quarter-sawn stuff, and bought all of it. That was fifteen or more years ago and I still using it.

Yes, Dr T T and his lovely wife E and two boys.
I can't enough good things about mun and dad.
Haven't seen them since they moved to Brisbane.
