B/w small body guitar.

I've built this guitar for myself because I have 2 crook shoulders and having my right arm over a dread is painful. It's about 25mm longer than a mini guitar and about 25mm shorter than a parlour, sort of in between. It's really loud for a small body guitar, think that might be the Huon, second small body I've built with it and both are loud. I went with a 25.34" scale and 14th fret joint.
B/W b/s sides, I got this set from Pete's ebay store, amazing figure in it.
Huon top also from Pete's ebay store.

Gotoh tuners
Finished with hard shellac ( my first go at it )

Nice job Wayne. It is really good to make one for yourself, just the way you want it. I like that cutaway shape, and the "patchwork" kind of effect on the headstock is a great way to show off lots of nice timber. How did you find the hard shellac? I am yet to find my ideal finishing material and have wondered whether I should give it a go?

Is the arm rest pinned or magnetized to top??

I have a Baritone project in mind, fully Huon, similar to a Tassy guitarist build, Cary Lewincamp.
Did you keep the Huon top a tad thicker than say Sitka??

Thanks guys. Mark i found the hard shellac pretty easy to work with and the results for a first time are pretty good, I've been using lacquer and I wanted to try something else, I thought I'd give it a go because it was for me. I started finishing another guitar today with it, I think i'll keep using it, a lot less toxic than lacquer. That cutaway shape is what I use now I really like it it's the 3rd time I've used it on guitars before that I used it on my ukes and then thought I'd try it on my guitars. Gaz the armrest has 3 small dowels in it ( tooth picks ) I use them to locate the armrest when I glue it makes it way easier than trying to find the right spot where you've made it for. I kept the huon at about what I would spruce, It's braced with x and lattice having CF under and over the lattice. I think you'll be happy with the Huon for a top, I reckon it's great and I'm trying to find another top now for another build, same size as this guitar.

Very cool guitar. i like the rosette a lot... kinda like stars in space. I reckon it would look nice all the way round the rosette too..but the mosaic is nice also.

The tap tone on the huon pieces i have come across has not been all that good... but it seems to make for excellent guitars and ukes so there must be something about it. Im keen to use it someday.
