This is my second archtop and first go at a burst. I'm pretty happy with the end result even though there's a few minor faults ( always is ) with it. Never had any real dramas with it which is nice for a change. The owner supplied the top and b/s and he had them pre carved, there was still a lot of work to get them to the right thickness and to get the machine marks out.
B/s - Black walnut
Top- Red spruce
Neck - Birds eye maple
F/b and bridge - ABW
Body bindings - Blackwood ( extra long, I couldn't get Koa long enough so I contacted Tim and he was really helpful cutting me some long b/w). All other bindings are Koa.
Headstock, back and front, p/g and tail piece ( laminated on ebony ) - burl also from Tim.
Tuners - Gotoh
P/up's K & K Maccaferri and also a Rhythm chief rewound by Kent Armstrong
Miritone gloss finish
Since I built the first one which also had a birds eye maple neck, I bought a Liogier rasp and it made it so much easier carving it.

Thanks Frank, I can't remember what type of burl it is, maybe Tim will know what it is, I wouldn't mind getting some more.

That is super-classy. The design and timber combination is really well conceived - and the build execution looks excellent also. The last photo - "on the back of the ute" - is a classic!

Re: Walnut archtop
Thanks Mark, I just wanted to take a photo of the bracket and the ute seemed to be where it wouldn't get scratched.
