I built this guitar 4 years ago, the owner was never really happy with the sound of the Redwood top ( I tried to talk him out of it in the first place ). During the original build I dropped a glass jug on the top and put a big hole in it so I put another on it, so this top is the third I've put on it. It's a Huon pine top ( from Tim ) and sounds way better than the redwood and it's also much louder. I also reshapped the neck and refinished the whole guitar rather than try to do the new bits.

Is yours for playing classical stuff or just for a small guitar?

I think it's mainly for classical stuff Richard. I used a sinker top on the guitar originally, I think that was a big part of the problem, normal Redwood according to Robbie O Brien is better than the sinker variety, so I think it depends on the piece you're using.
