I've had a guitar set of Monterey Cypress on the shelf for 8 years, and thought it was time to do something with it. So cut it up to make a couple of instruments. One tenor and this one in concert scale length.
Fret board and bindings from Indian Rosewood. Rosette and scratch plate in Koa.
Cypress Concert Uke
Re: Cypress Concert Uke
It't got a really quick attack and long sustain. Tone is really clean and I would say it would be most difficult to decide if it was closer to a mahogany or spruce topped instrument.
Re: Cypress Concert Uke
LOL....that scratch plate had me scratching my head for a bit...until I looked at a couple of pics of people actually playing ukes. Nice one.

I should have put a scratch plate on Bosko's. He's going to wear right through both the upper and lower bout on his. Same goes for Honey's. It's in need of some refinish work on the soundboard. Some of those uke players are fairly wild.
