Brazilian Mahogany would be my favourite material to work with. And you just can't go past the warmth and classic look of it. And lucky thing that the tone is hard to beat as well.
Client wanted a guitar type sound with 2 wound strings and tuned to DGBE in order to accompany an ensemble. So to get the string tension I like on this tuning, the scale length was stretched out to 22".
The initial design brief was that they weren't at all concerned about looks. Just played hard and needed a scratch plate and a pick up.Only the sound was important. No trim etc.
And that is what started out. But after they had a look through my website a few times, decided bindings and rosette would be a nice touch. So it evolved into this.
Body - Brazilian Mahogany
Fret Board and trim - Indian Rosewood
Scratch Plate - Spalted Mango
Brazilian Mahogany Baritone Uke

Re: Brazilian Mahogany Baritone Uke
It is gorgeous with many great details. I love the heal cap inlay into the back. The rosette is very elegant, the spalted scratch plate looks great as well.
