Hello

I posted a double tenor uke build last week.

These are the completed instruments

#1 Silky oak back and sides
Bearclaw Sitka top
Beef wood bindings
Beef wood F board and bridge (back sawn)
#2 Myrtle back and sides
Sitka top ... had a strange pink dirty look but matched the myrtle
Tiger myrtle bindings
IRW F board and bridge
Both play well. The myrtle uke has a nice ping that makes it nice to solo on. Has "cut".
The top is very close grained

Lovely looking instruments. How do they go?

Incidentally, does anyone get a touch of trypophobia from silky oak? (Warning= a google search for trypophobia is an excellent and very quick test of whther you have it!)

Thanks for the comment. I am happy with the sound and playability of both instruments. The myrtle uke has more of a traditional uke ping to the sound. Both have good (but different tone) and plenty of volume. I am lucky in that I have some great players and makers in town who turn up and play all the instruments we make. It is always good to sit away from an instrument and hear different players get into it. Different attack, different style ... always different from what you hear when you play something yourself.

On trypophobia ... a lot may argue a problem with the antithesis ...
