Back in the workshop after a working holiday in NSW and got this one strung up a few days ago. All settled in and adjusted.
The design brief was from a client who plays Classical guitar and wanted something showy. Nothing about it should make him think that it's a small classical. As well to showcase some Aussie Timbre. From there I was given free reign.
Back and Sides - Blackheart Sassafras
Tob - Carpathian Spruce with a bit of Bear Claw
Neck - Spanish Cedar
Fret Board - Indian Rosewood
Bridge and Head Plates - Indian Rosewood
Tuners - Hipshot
Bindings - Beefwood
Finish - Mirotone 3220
Strings - South Coast Ukes Linear set

How high can the bar go? Have you even thought about everyone else feeling inadequate? Of course not!
Banned for life, I say. Banned for life.
Dennis
p.s. STUNNING!

Hmmmm....shame you couldn't find any nice blackheart for this project.....
Wish we had smilies for eyes hanging out of the head. Top work, as usual...

It is all great, of course, but the clean butt joint with no end graft needed is what really made me smile!

As always Allen beautiful work. Nice piece of Sassafras. How do you do your headstock inlay? They always look so consistant.
Cheers

Headstock logo is a screen print using pearlescent ink.

Yes, it's a bit of a trick to get them on right the first time. I'm getting better at it, but still sometimes it takes a few goes.

I'd be curious to see more about how this is done, maybe an instructional if you're willing to share?
