Tenor Number 3

Have just finished and strung up my third tenor ukulele. It was my first attempt at a bolt on neck so, though I avoided most of the mistakes of builds 1 and 2, I found a whole new bunch of ways to stuff things up. Still, it turned out well and will be a nice present for my sister.

Top - recycled kauri floorboards from a shop in Onehunga (where I live)
Sides - recycled rimu matched lining from our house renovations
Back - recycled rimu from GreenLane Hospital
Neck - macrocarpa off-cut from brother-in-law's house
Fretboard and bridge - swamp rata (not recycled)
Finish - wiped on Tru-Oil (many coats)
Strings - Aquila reds
Tuners - Grover

It is still settling in but has a nice warm tone, reasonable volume and good sustain. It will be interesting to see how the sound develops.
