Lounge Guitar

I don't have a parlour so I have substituted lounge.

Have been meaning to put this one in the gallery but only just got around to a recording (there you go Stu) The pics show a tornavos but that was not in for the recording. You might think that that's the sound of the Australian bush in the background but it's just the Darwin burbs.

Soundcloud Link to Waltzing Matilda, Larry Pattis arrangement.

325mm lower bout 14 fret, Fender scale.
African Mahogany, Cooktown ironwood, EIR, Sitka.
Falcate braced, non live back.
I retro fitted a tilt neck (little hole in the fret board at the 18th)

Cheers gentlemen, yep Dr Nitschke the local grown garden weed Khaya senegalensis and that is why the back is not live, just a tad too much movement in service.

Thanks for listening Stu. Did anyone notice that even though I tried to pick a lull in the cicadas they managed to get their choir in right at the end and as if I had asked faded out?

Ha! that goes without saying mate :) and as I always wish to hear the guitars I see here I thought I should practice what I preach. I did put a bit of effort into that tune and still pick it to pieces when I listen to it. The last note should ring out more but I noticed that just after I struck it I felt it buzz against a finger pulling the sustain out of it, it stands out like a sore thumb to me but good enough to get a feel for the sound of the guitar. That was about the sixth attempt to record it so rather than frustrate myself further I decided to be happy with it.

Sweet rendition of Waltzing Matilda, on a really beautiful (Oz wood-accented) guitar. Well done, Jim!

Nice little guitar Jim, I planted five African Mahoganies and only one took off and it's having a battle to grow, I wondered what the grain/figure looked like.

Sweet looking guitar Jim. It sounds bigger than it is.

Thanks guys. You have a hard time killing them with a shovel up here Taffy, shame they didn't take off. I have never seen a tree grow so fast. The local bug chorus Markus, louder than a sprinkler.
