Now that sparkles without the assistance of an effect! I'm liking the colouring/subtle burst. What a great way to use up odds and ends! May have to pinch your colour scheme myself one day Rob, would be really good for a slightly less than "ideal" piece of spruce. :cl :cl :cl

Thanks Steve, the finish is water based lacquer and hand polished with micromesh and final polished with autoglym car polish... :)

Beautiful finish Rob. How did you do the burst? Looks a bit like its hand rubbed?

Beautiful guitar with a really manly look to it. I like the simple, manly bindings and manly centre strip and the smoky, manly, tobacco-stained finish. If i were a pirate I'd have no hesitation in slinging it onto my back and sailing off to Angostura.

Hi Shane the finish is indeed hand rubbed, the whole finish was done using Stewmacs tobacco colourtone , firstly mixed with water and laid on bare wood, when enough colour had built up I lightly sanded the centre area of the sound board to create a random rough pattern effect I then mixed the colourtone with shellac and built up the darker areas of the rest of the guitar, finally I added the colourtone to waterbased sanding sealer to give a few tint coats before several more coats of 90% sheen waterbased top coats... :)

Hi Dave, I used a brand called ISF aquabuild sp, I got 5litres of sanding sealer and 5litres of 90% sheen for £68.00 which is really cheap compared to some brands... :)

I thank the powers that be now the sparkles have gone. I kept rubbing my eyes and wondering if someone had spiked my drink. Lovely bit of design work there Rob.
