Here is my round-shoulder Dreadnought for the comming Healdsburg fest.
Nothing crazy, just plain, simple and well executed.

This is on my bench at the moment
my first attempt at a cutaway
my first commission
and my first Aussie Blackwood
Lots of firsts
back and sides australian blackwood
top sitka
binding flamed sheoak
the neck is Tasi oak with sheoak laminations Im trying to get time to build that at present
rosett sheoak and abalone
but in between Im helping my son build a resonator and Im also building a cot for my first grandchild ,luckily my customer is patient ??
this is just rough sanded and a coat of shellac so I could make the grain pop as the victim sorry customer wanted some picis
so thats whats on my bench

That's a nice bit of Blackwood Dave, where is it from ? it has a popping figure!.

Can't wait to see the final product , should be a gem.

Paul .

Dave did you have any issues (ie discolouration) bending the blackwood sides?

Hi Martin
no problems at all with discolouration other than by me
the bass side bout I actually burned a little at the waist ,I was showing my son how to bend it and ended up giving him a lesson in what not to do ??
This is probably about the most figured blackwood I have seen and it bent really easily

Hi guys

and well done for your projects. It's been a while I didn't post anything on the forum so here it is : I'm currently working on two Weissies, both made of blackwood and maple, but with different bracing systems and a few cosmetic changes. We'll see in a few months which one sounds better :D
