Blackwood Dready with LR Baggs StagePro Anthem pickup system

Post by martintaylor » Sun Apr 28, 2013 10:47 pm

This one is for a muso that will be doing a lot of live work so he needed a pickup system built in. He went for the LR Baggs StagePro Anthem system. It was frightening cutting into the side of the guitar to install but the output is great.

Realy nice work Martin.
The photos look great i agree cutting a big hole in the side of a just completed guitar is a worry but all turned out well great job

Looks good. What timber is the sound board made from? How does th LR Baggs pickup sound. I`m thinking of using one when I finish my guitar.

Hi Steve, Thanks, sounds great so far, still playing in (I know the purists would prefer a more technical response but I am not there yet). It is one of the loudest guitars so far with a very even response across the whole guitar. It will be going to a player that needs plenty of punch in unplugged environments but also works amplified as he gigs in all sorts of environments from small school classrooms to large outdoor gigs.

The soundboard is King Billy (William) Pine. It is a great Australian tine wood for soundboards. I love it.

I have installed several LR Baggs pickups now, iBeam, Element and now the StagePro Anthem and they all perform really well. The StagePro Anthem is yet to be tested in a live setup with a large PA (that will be on Sunday) but with my guitar amp it sounds great so far. I'll give an updated report soon.
