The Twin Kauri's
Hi,
After putting up with some awful weather this Christmas season, I was glad to get back into the shed and finish off these two
guitars this weekend.
Nothing you havn't already seen before in the way of specs, Kauri top, Kauri and Rimu necks, although the Rewarewa back and sides on one of them is a first for me, its such a cool tonewood.
enjoy,
Christian.

Magnificent You have done it again Christian
The Rewarewa looks a lot like the Australian Grevillia Robusta or Silky Oak, Beautiful figure
well done

Beautiful guitars Christian!!
Particularly like the look of the the one with the Rewarewa back and sides.
I gather Rewarewa is from the Proteaceae family, as are the Grevilleas. Certainly looks similar to Northern and Southern Silky Oaks found over here.
(Whoops. Just saw Tod's comment. Should read the whole thread before posting

Re: The Twin Kauri's
Hi guys,
thanks for the comments.
Yip its one of the proteaceae, (knightia excelsa) or NZ honeysuckle.
it is similar to silky oak but has a much better colour in my opinion and doesn't seem to be as waxy.
It's unusal to find 200mm widths, so I thought might as well give it a go. and I'm really happy with the result.
Cheers,
Christian.
