Some pictures of an all mahogany OM that I finished recently.
Plain and unadorned, it looks like a guitar and even sounds like one.

Top back and sides Macassar mahogany bought on eBay.

I like that a lot - good job! The 'plain, unadorned' look has always appealed to me.

What was your finish type and procedure?

Beautifully simple and elegant Bruce, love it.
Although I'm a bit sus on the plant in the background of the headstock shot, seeing as it's in Canberra I thought maybe that's what makes the politicians carry on like children during question time

Hi Dave

The finish is Danish oil, several applications worked in with 400 and 600 wet and dry.
Initially I sealed the body/neck with dewaxed blonde shellac then started the oiling using
400 wet and dry to spread the oil. I applied the oil generously and evenly then wiped off
any excess with a clean soft cloth after about 30 mins. Then I left it for a couple of days
until the surface was dry before applying the next coat. I repeated this procedure changing
to 600 wet and dry.

I recently had a rather enjoyable half hour playing this fine instrument in the hallowed halls of Parliament House.
While noodling away on a bit of The Oils 'No Reaction', I started to wonder if Pete would poke his dome in through the doorway & give us a dance.

Did you apply any of your Gore/ Gilet knowledge into this one Bruce?

The vegetation you refer to is a seven lobed dissected leaf variety of Acer palmatum, very common in Canberra.
I have no idea as to what you are alluding to. (TICFIB)
This guitar was partially completed when I attended Trevor's course in June, so I was not able
to apply everything I learnt at the course to this one. I will only say that the resonant frequencies
for T (1,1)1 and T(1,1)2 are well above the suggested ranges and there is no obvious T(1,1)3.
I have fiddled with the bracing and sound hole diameter to move the resonant frequencies away from
note frequencies. I think it worked.
