Hi,
Completed my first build over the christmas break (2 years in the making).
What a sweet sounding guitar, very bright & lots of sustain.
Compared with a factory made guitar their is no comparison, I don't want to put it down.
I took it to work & a work colleague who has played for 30 years was impressed with my 1st attempt, couple of flaws, slight fret buzz on the 6th string,
neck is abit bulky & then of course their are the mistakes I managed to hide.
All in all a BIG learning curve. . .
Anyway it's only a dreadnaught, but good for parties,
Materials are:
Engleman soundboard
EIR back & sides, fretboard, bridge, headplate.
Maple bindings, bwb purfling, paua rosette
Mahogany neck
Cheap set of machine heads
Durobond lacquer finish
Finally. . . #1 finished
Re: Finally. . . #1 finished
That looks great Wayne
I really like the clean lines and big shape.
I would expect that to sound very nice and get better with playing.
The finish looks great too - what did you use?
One to be proud of, nothing quite like the first one! (until you finish the next one of course)
Cheers
Richard

Feels good doesn't it?
Looks great, particularly for a first. Great job on the finish too.
So what are you building next?

Thanks for the response guys. . .
Richard the finish is Durobond 851 Guitar Lacquer (Nitrocellulose), same stuff Gerard Gilet uses.
Paul, I'm currently building 3 more, 1 dreadnaught & 2 cut-a-ways.
One of the cut-a-ways is for me the other for the brother-in-law in Brisbane (a love job for him).
Everytime we go to Brissy we stay at his place instead of paying Motel accommodation, so thought I would surprise him for his next year birthday(hope I finish it in time )
The other dreadnaught, see how I go selling it.
I have to say, the lovely sound of the first guitar has inspired me to keep building / perfecting & see where it takes me.
