First one done....more or less...
Couple of pix from the newly completed "Brunswick Rose"
Still a little saddle work to get the intonation spot on, but I only know Cowboy Chords anyway
The Meguire's brought it out nicely, I think, tho the Qld Maple doesn't give me the same result as the Rosewwod headstock....
Thanks for looking, and thanks heaps for all the help since I found this forum. You are a really great bunch of people, and all input is appreciated

Love the headstock and bridge, they look great as does the whole guitar. Wayne

Re: First one done....more or less...
Nick, that is a stunning result. Hard to believe that it is your first one!
I really like the way that you have personalized the bridge and headstock design. Is that all your own inlay work on the peghead?
Nice stuff. Are you planning to do another?
cheers
Mark

Thanks, Mark, Wayne...
I guess I wanted to have "my own" little take on the guitar, and sketched the headstock, fretboard end and bridge to reflect the same curl.....
I can't take credit for the rose, bought it off eBay for $30. Reckon I'd still be cutting if I did it myself
Daughter's middle name is Rose, and the inlay worked.
I do indeed have another in the works. blackwood back, sides and neck, Aussie red cedar soundboard. all glued up and ready to go....just gotta do a few things for the missus. Six weeks of guitar making has left her with a bit of a list

Re: First one done....more or less...
Nice work Nick, everything 'flows' nicely and the proportions are bang on that it all sits together well. I love the 'non uniform' soundboard (I always like some interest in the board rather than the traditional & somewhat "bland" Master grade tops). If that's your first then the bar has been set high & one we'll all struggle to reach by the time you're on your tenth!

Looks great Nick.
That wood combo has a bit of a bit of a light coloured vintage look about it, the pearl probably helps that as well.
cool

Re: First one done....more or less...
Thaqnks again, and I actually prefer the soundboard to have a bit of interest, but this is what came in the kit
Didn't use the brigalow fingerboard and bridge material supplied, preferring the rosewood to complement the bindings...
Orange Feast&Watson shellac for $12.50 from Bunnings helps meld the disparate bits into one harmonious whole....Gonna look for some blonde shellac for the blackwood/cedar....

Nice guitar Nick. I love the OM size guitar to play.
I also love tops with plenty of character.
The whole guitar looks very classy.
Thanks for sharing
Cheers

Re: First one done....more or less...
Thanks again.....
I just got my first order--believe it or not...
Stopped round the local after work and a bloke named Clay Blythe was playing, so I asked him what he thought...Played the whole next set with her, and we're gonna work something out for the $$$...
He wanted this one, but I think she'll never go anywhere---sides. The wife'd kill me if I sold "her" pressie.....
BTW, guy's a killer guitarist, and allround top musician.....he's coming round next week, and we'll have a chat.....

Never sell your first one Nick, it might be a collectors item one day. I've still got my first one which i'll hang onto for good, the kids can fight over it when i'm gone. Wayne
Re: First one done....more or less...
Having gotten good responses from the people who've tried the guitar, We did a few short clips, and I think I figured out how to get them on youtube here http://www.youtube.com/user/nnickusa?feature=mhee

Beautiful guitar and well sounding too!
José Ramirez III tried to get his first guitar back throughout his whole life but never succeeded (in spite of knowing who was the owner).
