Well finally got Model #2 finished. Basically an OM sized acoustic. Again I've used recycled Silky Oak for the back, sides and neck. The top is Indian devil tree (Alstonia Scholaris), which was knocked down in a a storm earlier in the year. It is native to Australia. Its air dried density is 385kg/m3 @12% m.c. and its hardness (Janka) 1.7 - 1.9kN, so seemed suitable as a tonewood although not often tried as far as I can find out.
Congratulations Mike, a beautiful looking guitar with tone to match. Haven't heard of the top wood before but it sure does work as a tonewood. Very proffesional little video that was a joy to watch and listen to.
Cheers
Alan

Brillant Mike. Great sound and playing.

Nice sounding guitar! And a nice sounding top wood name too
Is the bridge also silky oak? I like how it looks, and I also find the black saddle and nut (ebony?) very elegant.

Hi Mike, Is that Northern Silky Oak (Cardwellia Sublimis)? There was a lot of it used in days gone by and it is darker than the Southern Silky (Grevillea Robusta)?

I had assumed it was Grevillea Robusta, but it may well be Cardwellia Sublimis. I'll have to do some research.
Thanks for the question!
