I like it a lot, and can't see any evidence of the battles that you say you had with it. Very nicely presented. Which plans did you use? It is a very sweetly proportioned body.
The wenge looks great. I have never tried it. Are the splinters as bad as everybody says?
cheers

Re: Parlour Guitar Done
Wenge makes a nice looking B & S set. I like how my eye tried to squeeze the radial lines of the rosette in to a pattern at first, but then relaxed into the randomness of it.
My Wenge splinter memory is that even though I pulled the splinter out early the wound still got infected. That was 25 years ago and I still remember that splinter out of the many I have forgotten.

Re: Parlour Guitar Done
The plans were from LMI it is a Scott Antes plan called parlour/small concert..
As far as wenge goes, I'm quite happy with the look & tone I got (it's the new Brazilian ya know
) I'd say it is bright but combined with the cedar top I think it works. but what do I know this is my 6th guitar... I got a few splinters which I took care of immediately and had no infection issues.. but yes don't go stroking it lovingly
bottom line a few splinters but not terrible. I also found it cracked easier than some woods along the rather large pore lines.. Yes it has big! pores, I used z-poxy for pore fill & took 4 full strength coats and a diluted wash coat to fill, but man it finished nice once all that was done.
I have 2 more sets and plan on using another this fall (too humid to build right now) so it has no properties that totally put me off using it.. I'm thinking drywall compound for the next try at pore filling it...
