No.18 - Cedar top 000 - True oil finish

Post by steve roberts » Sat Apr 20, 2013 10:35 am

Hi,

While I'm in posting mode - thought I'd share this one as well. I decided to try something a little bit different so used True Oil for the finish for the first time( it is so much simpler and healthier than spraying!), and it's also my first time using a cedar top on a steel string - and I'm very impressed with the overall package!

Specifications.

Body size: 000
Top: Western Red Cedar
Back and Sides: New Guinea Rosewood
Neck: Queensland Maple
Fretboard: Madagascan Rosewood
Bridge and Headplate: She-oak
Bindings: Maple
Bracing: Live back Sitka Spruce
Tuners: Silver Grover 18:1
Finish: True oil neck and body (first time I've tried it and rather pleased with the finish!)

Regards
Steve

Nice Steve. Really well put-topgether guitar, in my mind. I like the aesthetics :cl .

I did my last in TruOil, and it won't be the last one I do with it. I loved the finish, funnily enough, I sold that one this morning. Easier than I thought it would be. Got 5 more on the go and no room...
I wish I was half the man my dog thinks I am....

Cheers,
Nick

Hi Steve

Very nice guitar, congratulations. Did you pore fill the NG rosewood
and if so what did you use? I am about halfway through #6 for me
and I am also using NG rosewood.

Fantastic looking guitar, love to see a close up of that rosette as well. I now know some wood I purchased as Figi Mahogany was actually NG Rosewood I actually took back to where I bought it and he was insisted it was mahogany, I didn't mind as I am building #1 with it and it's looking great.
Keep Smiling,
Eric Smith
