Another Aussie tonewood guitar!

Post by martintaylor » Fri Feb 15, 2013 9:38 pm

Just finished a small body Acoustic. Tassie Blackwood back and sides, Bunya Pine soundboard, QLD Maple neck, Mulga Bridge and Fretboard, Paua Shell and Blackwood rosette inlay.

Unfortunately for the more technically minded, I don't have any of the numbers and figures of T1s or T2s etc I'm just not there yet but she does sound sweet. :)

Very nice! :D

How wide is the binding? And which wood? It is (still?) quite uncommon to use (to see) such a similar (but not the same) coloured binding as the sides are, but I like it a lot. The extra width makes up the "missing" colour contrast, I believe. For me, the whole appearance of this guitar is in a pleasant visual equilibrium and yet not at all boring. Well done! :cl :cl :cl

Hi Martin
Great work - fantastic looking guitar. There is something special about tassie blackwood.
It must be getting close to time for a cutaway?
What a wonderful addiction lutherie is - I hope thay never find a cure.
Looking forward to seeing your next.

What a gem!! Love the warmth of this guitar, and just the right amount of bling in the rosette.
hand shakes all round on this one Martin!!

Cheers,

Wow, that is beautiful. If I was in the market for a guitar, that would tick all the boxes for me, I just love it.

Cheers

Thanks everyone for all the encouraging comments!

@Markus - The bindings are 10mm x 2mm Jarrah. I try to match up the colours so thanks for noticing.
@Steve - yes, it is time for a cutaway (dammit). I'll just have to get through a couple of orders first (procrastiinating a little)
@Col - Let me know when you are in the market, I think my prices are pretty reasonable (sell, sell sell) haha.

Hi Tod,
2 on the bench at the moment. Another Blackwood small body and a Tiger Myrtle Dreadnought. Then I have another Blackwood Dreadnought ordered after that.
It seems there are more people that want guitars than I imagined when I started. Must be the introductory pricing I offered. I'm sure once I put my pricing back up to full price the demand will drop off.

That's a very pretty Aussie with just a little bit of Kiwi in to add bit of colour.

True Jim, but when you consider that NZ was originally asked to join us in the Commonwealth of Australia it almost counts doesn't it?

Wait, I haven't opened a can of worms have I....

Finally sending this one off to Adelaide. I'm using Pack and Send. Hopefully it will arrive safely.

extra packing so there isn't any movement.

Case has been wrapped in 5cm of bubble wrap all around, then packed in a couple of layers or cardboard.
