Scarf Joint

In the recent GAL Mark French talks of working in Charles Foxes workshop. In the article I noticed Charles' jig for cutting the scarf joint in his headstocks on the bandsaw. I decided I just had to have one. I have been doing them freehand but that means a fair bit of cleaning up with a plane afterwards.

These jigs running in the slides on my machines always seem to take a long time to do. For a start all the slides are different sizes and shapes. And the runners always seem to stick and need a lot of sanding ot get right.

Anyway got it done today and it works a treat. It is adjustable so different angles can be done and it wil be very useful for other angled cuts - such as making wedges which I seem to use quite a lot.
