Hi, what's a good way of applying a clear finish over Angelus dye? I was thinking of using an acrylic gloss. Is some kind of sealer necessary?
Cheers

I've sprayed lacquer over Angelus dyes a few times, i haven't worried about a sealer. Might pay to experiment on some scrap first and find out what works for you. Wayne

Re: Clear coating Angelus dye
G'day Matt,
I've used Angelus dye and added a few drops into my shellac mix. Then you can try it on some scrap until you get the colour you want and then apply so the first coats are like a sealer and then went back to my shellac mix which will become darker the more layers you apply. I have seen a guy on youtube apply black around a guitars edges and then do a sunburst style finish, sand it back leaving the outer edges darker and it looked great. He then sprayed the whole body. Make sure you experiment first as the dye will change colours very quickly by adding or subtracting 6 drops of dye to your first application. Check out BIGDGUITARS on youtube.
Cheers
