Hi

Does anyone have a source for gidgee for fretboards in Australia? Loggerheads seem to be not responding.

Any info appreciated

Hi Mac,
a long shot, try Terry Gordon at H.N.T Gordon and Co, the plane makers in Alstonville, NSW.
He has offcuts of gidgee and mulga that maybe suitable for fingerboards.

You could also try Pete Curly. I think I saw on IG he was prepping for a yard sale so may have stock handy.

Mr. Loggerheads is having a break and will be back in business in the new year.

I too wasn't having any luck with the emails. Luckily he responded to my text, and I'm happy to wait a bit.

Many thanks for the replies
I did find some in Colac via Colac Woodworkers Guild.

I'm just using a long radius sanding block to shape a 9.5" board and it sure is hard even with 80 grit.

I'm not game to try planing it with a standard angle block plane-maybe i'll get around to Trevor's trick of converting a No 6 to a high angle.

cheers and thanks again for taking the time to reply
