Wood query - White Ash and Brush Mahogany

Post by joel » Sun Nov 14, 2021 9:45 pm

I spent some time today cleaning up the shed and I discovered some wood I could possibly use for guitars. I'm wondering if anyone has used these species before?

White Ash. https://www.wood-database.com/white-ash/
I've got a 78mm x 78mm x 1000mm piece I could resaw for some neck blanks and heel blocks. I figure if its good for baseball bats it could work for guitar necks.

Brush Mahogany. https://apps.des.qld.gov.au/species-sea ... /?id=11431
This one's hard to find info on. I've got a piece 90mm x 90mm x 850mm. I'm wondering if it would be good for fretboards and bridges?

If anyone has experience using these woods, I'd love to hear about it.
