Great sharpening set up
Great sharpening set up
I've been using a variation on this set up for years - which I first saw on Youtube in another Japanese video.

Worth watching the whole thing - its the best solution I've found for narrow chisels and plane blades. And no, the jig does not make your blades curved.

Satisfaction be dammed. The machine is on the bucket list, but until then, one of those jigs looks easy to make and use. Thanks for the video.
I was planing some recycled rimu and found a old nail.
Took me 1/2 the night to hone out resulting divot - a drum sander is also on that bucket list.

Thanks. Another for the to do list. I have a look at a couple of other videos from the same guy. Quite interesting. The homemade cyclone caught my eye.

Question: So would all edges have the radius of the arm on them and if so, does it matter?
Re: Great sharpening set up
Do you mean "would this make the blades edge curved?" No, it doesn't. They come out flat.
