Tornavoz

Hi there,

I have a classical guitar on the bench at the present time and would like to incorporate a Tornavoz. I have seen a few through my internet research some about 18mm high made from laminated wood some spruce, some rosewood. Making one from brass seems a big job where the wood small ones I have seen and listened to look like a good boost to the bass. My plantilla is the Neal Osberg guitar I'm using the same top bracing and it has a metal tornavoz on the plan.

Any advice would be great thank you.

This is a bit woolly but I remember a thread on the Delcamp forum some time back about tornovozes and my impression was that they really didn't do much that was useful to the sound.

I remember Alan Caruth who is a very reliable source discussing what exactly a tornovoz does. It could be worth your while digging that thread out.

I really respect Alan Caruth will look into it.
The demo's I have listened to on youtube are pretty convincing to me that the Tornavoz definitely lowers the air resonance of the box.
Still it depends on microphones, room position in the recording environment that may make a difference to sound?
