Martin that’s a good one! Ca.n You complete the circle now and send it on??? !! I only had a screenshot so must be something wrong
With the way the formulae were done....
We are in lockdown here and a perfect time for me to try the TG method.

That would be great Martin and much appreciated. I think I have broken the big dread of the TG method now and looking forward to advancing it. Wish I could help you with the painting but what can I say...!! All the best

In terms of tapping, it is worth checking you have done the setup correctly as per the book. Such things as the FFt size and the number of buffers in the spectrum capture tab.

It takes a bit of practice to get the ten taps timed right. You can see each buffer appearing as a block of colour in the capture spectrum button that you use to start the capture.

A screen shot or two might show us something...

Thanks Dave
I think I have it set up ok because I bought the TG course online from O Briens so I am definitely getting there...
I only do 3 taps for each test on half plates (LG,cg and twist) as per the video and then 10 taps for resonating test which I haven’t done yet . It definitely spits out about 3 readings per tap and I was just wondering it you could get a read out of the average for each type of test ,( long grain test etc )
I will send screenshot if I can and I believe I will have a spreadsheet soon to test my own against so I am getting close to starting a TG type which I am
really looking forward to!
I must give a thumbs up to the people on the forum who have given such detailed responses to my newbie questions. Cheers

There is a slight ambiguity in section 6.2.

Without wishing to state the obvious... There are the three tests required - long, cross, and twist. But for each one you do the usual ten taps, filling the ten buffers in VA which then averages the result.

You've probably already sussed this.

Dave
In The video TG only does 3 for each raw plate and ten on the finished guitar...?? Today again I got what seemed to be reasonably correct ( judging by the target numbers in 6.2 but still the cross grain test throws out very high numbers for some reason....from 150 to 300 which can’t be right I’m assuming.. I am going to try again and hopefully again I have the spreadsheet sorted I will get proper results to proceed with. It’s a daunting task at the start for sure!!
I know there are a few more tests after the thickness one but I’m avoiding them for the moment !

Hello there
Is there anyone who could have a quick look at the spreadsheet I have done as it doesnt seem to be giving out a correct thickness?? I cannot upload but can send directly to some kind volunteers email address...
It was copied as a screenshot form the forum ( thanks Martin!) but formulae is by me and I suspect the thickness formula is the culprit...
I think I have gone as far as I can myself

I cannot upload my spreadsheet not can I see the formulae in the Google Docs sheet...
If someone could have a look at the thickness formula in this screenshot as I think the error might be there.

Very bad English there..!!
I meant to say I am good to go
I am going to try a live back as well so will use the correct value of 55 as per the book. Really looking forward to this now so hopefully it will go ok even though I am not too sure of what’s next Re the x bracing and if any tests required at that stage so I will be no doubt picking your brains again before this first TG guitar is built!!
Thanks again and feel free to drop any further hints for me when you have the time
Dave
