On fret bending..
Trevor G has a Fret bending jig in the Jigs and Fixtures forum.
Just search there with the word emergency.

I copied it using a wooden base plate and three wooden dowels.
I realise that's only good for short-term but it worked a treat.
I padded the dowel posts with wraps of masking tape till I got the correct radius.
Hope that's of some use.

Thanks Pat, the undersize tang was definitely my problem with the first set of frets, it was not something I'd considered before.

I made a fret bender a long time ago that looks very similar to the one you mentioned but I used sliding door rollers. I don't need any sort of drive for this one, just push the wire through and hold it straight. It doesn't bend the first and last few centimetres of wire which is a bit of a pain.
