Nice finish. Is that Mirortone or nitro?

Hi blackalex,

It's Mirotone Mirocat PC 3220. I normally use Durobond 851 Nitro but it's getting too expensive to purchase and freight to Tassie - $130 shipping for 2 litres. There is a Mirotone retailer in Hobart - I saved nearly $200. So far I'm happy with the finish, although it doesn't seem as hard as the nitro - it's only a couple of weeks old so I'll give it some more time before I make up my mind.

Thanks Leigh! I recently explored the possibilities in the North East where I live, Mirrortone out of Albury was more costly than the Durobond nitro including freight to my home, which was almost as much as you would have paid. I also explored the Mirrortone health hazards and felt that the Nitro and the Mirrortone are just as hazardous as each other, the Mirrortone being, according to my research, the worst of the two. I am also set up for Nitro and had a half finished guitar needing thinners to continue. The freight is the killer! By the way, for those using dyes, the Feast and Watson dyes work fine with Nitrocellulose. Cheers Ross

Hi Wayne,

I'm extremely satisfied with sound of this guitar. It's very responsive, has good sustain with great separation and balance between voices - which is what I'm looking for in a finger style guitar. The timbre is quite rich due to a strong fundamental with a good balance of overtones (partials) on all the open strings. The best sounding guitar I've made so far - although I could be biased.

Cheers
