Great kids

Post by blackalex1952 » Mon Nov 13, 2017 1:39 pm

My kids produced a surprise birthday present on the weekend. Low and behold, Luban low angle plane! Wow!
I'm wondering what the low angle luthier set finds these low angle planes the most useful for, the best techniques to use and the best hone angle for the blade. I am just about to touch up the blade on a freshly flattened Japanese water stone and try it out thicknessing a soundboard. I have previously used my Stanley 41/2" with an extra thick blade. Thanks Ross

All my blockies are low angle jobs. Sharpening.....from memory the blades have a 25 or 30 degree primary bevel and then I hone in a secondary bevel on the Veritas honing guide.
