Customer built that one himself, under the one on one direction of the talented Jeffrey Yong.

Can't see the point in this spline, it gives little or no material near the critically stressed area at the outside of the break.
Just gluing it up with HHG and setting the insert in with epoxy would work well.

Al good, and a fair question.

Normally glue is sufficient to repair a broken neck heel, many heel fractures that is all I do as well, that is glue it and refit.

The fracture on this neck was located at the insert, the splines add side strength to that location and go to the depth of the insert only, there was also a requirement to replace some of the wood that was also missing at that bottom insert location.

Ah, yes. Now that you mention it I can clearly see the Jeffrey Yong style there. We haven't heard from him in quite a while around these parts.......
