How to Splint Repair

Post by simso » Wed Jan 18, 2017 8:28 pm

Newest one.

How I do a splint repair.

Badly split top, won't glue back together, it's had multiple side repairs, so I'm guessing over the years it's not been aligned the best.

After splinting, give it some time to age and hopefully it will eventually dis-appear

Hi Steve,
Loving your series of guitar repairing.
Is the perspex caul with the magnets for stablising the crack underneath the top available to buy or is it your own creation?
Cheers
Alan

Thanks folks.

The plastic caul for stabilising is called a Thompson crack corrector or something like that.

So purchased not made.

Lots of places sell them
