Planetary/straight style tuners for steel string

Post by lamanoditrento » Mon Oct 03, 2016 3:08 pm

Hi There,

I would like to have straight string pull on my current steel sting build but not have an asymmetrical headstock. So I am thinking of something like planetary tuners going straight through the headstock. The only option I know of is Steinberger Gearless Tuners. Does anyone else have any other ideas?

Cheers
Trent

Forgot to ask, could I use planetary banjo tuners?

Not sure about a steel string but I used banjo tuners on an african lyre harp which had steel strings.

Send an email to Chuck Herin (via Contact on his site) and ask him if he still makes the 16:1 pegs for steels strings.

They don't look planetary though

I never heard back from Pegheds so assume that is a no go for steel string. Instead I have ordered 2 sets of banjo tuners and see how they go. They are 4:1, so not preferable but my only other option is Steinbergers
